Step 2: Tell us about your floor
If you're not sure about any of the questions, see definitions below the questionnaire for more details.
Definitions
Coating - is any layer on top of the concrete. This could be paint, epoxy, tile, vinyl, etc. These old coatings must be removed before we can apply the new coating.
We only remove paint and epoxy based.
If you select any other option (tile, vinyl, etc), the estimates derived by the calculator will not include the cost of removal. We suggest you hire a third party for the removal.
Minor Cracks - these are the cracks that are created from the floor age and use. There can be multiple of these cracks through the floor. These cracks require additional product and labor but can be fixed.
Here is an example of a minor:
Major Cracks - these are larger cracks and are usually caused by the subfloor shifts. These cracks very often go from one side of the floor to the other. In many cases one side of the crack is shifted higher than the other side.
Here is an example of a major crack:
Our designers are trained to spot major cracks and if confirmed you will need to fix the concrete before we can apply our coat. As a result our calculator will not add a cost if you select "Major Cracks". This option needs human evaluation.
Verticals - are what we call the exposed concrete on the sidewall just bellow the sheet rock/dry wall.
Verticals are very common in garages. Can also be found in other areas where the concrete floor meets a wall.
Their height is usually between 4" and 12". Although there are exceptions. If your verticals are higher than 12", just select 6" - 12" and our designer will give you a price for the difference during the consultation.
Many concrete floors have a gap or a hard corner where they meet the sidewall. This is where the debris and bacteria are accumulated and makes it hard to clean. Formcove is the product we use with our flooring system to eliminate these gaps and corners.
Efflorescence - is the crystalline deposit of salt that forms on concrete when water is present. It looks like a chalky substance on top.
All concrete has moisture, however when there is too much moisture the concrete coating will not bond properly. Efflorescence is a clear indication of that. However it doesn't mean there is no moisture if there is no efflorescence. We always measure moisture before our installations and if the moisture is above 6% we have to apply a moisture barrier product. This adds time (curing time is 24 hours) and cost ($1.50 per sf) to the project.
We ask this question, because if you can clearly see there is moisture, our estimates will be more accurate.

The brothers did a terrific job. Their timeliness and professionalism for the entirety of the project was a welcome change from a lot of other local services. They understood what we wanted and performed well. We had no surprises and the floor looks spectacular.

Had two rooms done in my basement. The entire process and everyone I dealt with were 100% professional. Great communication, respectful of our home, polite and a fair price. If the floor holds up, they will definitely be doing my garage floor and I would not hesitate to recommend them, and I am very fussy.
